DIY Makeup for Professional Business Studio Portraits

Tip 2 - Applying Makeup Primer, Concealer and Foundation

Start with a couple dabs of makeup primer, such as Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer (available at Superdrug). Remember to cover your neck and any other areas that your outfits do not cover.

Concealer is next, applied before the foundation to give a smoother finish. Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 concealer and high lighter is handy as you won't need a lighter colour for your eyes.

Tips on Concealer and Foundation Application

  • Apply Makeup Primer to face, neck and other exposed areas
  • Concealer is next - Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 is recommended
  • Matte formulated foundation is next eg Bare Essentials
  • Blend in using fingers, brush or sponge

Foundation is next and this should be a matte formulation. This can be liquid, powder or cream based such as HD Forever, a special formulation for photographic and TV use. Many people also use Bare Minerals an alternative.

Begin applying the foundation at your chin and nose, blending outwards, using a brush, fingers or sponge. Don't forget to cover your neck and other exposed areas.
