Headshot Eye Makeup for Actors

  • Apply makeup heavier than usual to compensate for studio lighting
  • Only the outer half of the eyes need eye liner
  • Black coloured mascara should always be used
  • Use a dark brown or black pencil to define your eyebrows.

Dark brown or smoke coloured eye liner is best as black is usually over the top for headshot photo shoots. It is good practice to apply eye liner only to the outer half of the eye.

Mascara should always be black (even if you are blond). A good choice is Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous in Very Black. False eye lashes are usually not a good idea for actors headshots.

Finally, emphasise your eyebrows using a medium brown or black colour such as Avon Perfect Eyebrow Pencil.
